Emily turned 14, Carol bought her
a Finest. Carol didn't know that Finest is a time-honored Fuji
model name, nor did she study the specs and decide the Finest
was just what Em needed. Em liked looking at the white and
blue bike and Carol could afford it. Simple as that. There are perfectly good, logical reasons to pick a Finest out of the herd of similarly priced bicycles. The Finest frame is made from good Cro-Moly steel; it'll ride well and last for years and years. That frame has eyelets for putting on fenders, a rear rack or saddlebag mounts. The frame will never limit the uses of the bike. The parts on the Finest's frame are well-chosen Shimano ones. Emily liked the three chainrings, the feeling that her bike also wasn't limited by its gearing or equipment. She even liked the saddle that came on her new bike. Really. Emily's been pedaling with her mom on local club rides, hanging in just fine. Probably the Finest is a bit finer than Emily needs now, but she'll grow as a cyclist and it'll be perfect. Maybe she and Carol will tour on their bikes this summer. Maybe someone will get a shot of them and we'll run it in next year's catalog. |
